Eve chats away with other artists in front of their circus tent. Their next show starts in an hour and is the last one of the season – traditionally full of pranks on each other. Eve tells me that she was trained in the Christchurch Circus School that disappeared in the earthquake, along with their jobs. So they founded Circus of Aotearoa and tour around the country, making sure that even the poorest children can attend. “Lower socio-economic areas, like this, offer a much more open and appreciative audience. ” – she says “It’s not up to me, but I hope next year we can return, we had a lot of fun here.”
