Peter orders his usual morning flat white with two sugars from Sandra. He actually considers his order placed by simply turning up as Sandra remembers everyone’s coffee after the first time. Peter has been a regular customer since the coffee shop opened right after the earthquake. Sandra and her partner, Ian built the place from old fridge sheets and decorated it with pieces of lego and bits of salvaged wood. After a friendly chat Peter receives his coffee. Sitting at the table he holds onto his hot green cup, looking at the passing cars and reading the paper. Peter’s day starts well again.
