Tui’s family decided to spend Fathers’ Day outdoors and bike along the newly opened coastal walkway, but the day brought a chilly wind. Only Tui and her mum were brave enough to challenge the gale with a brisk walk to the bridge and back. Tui was naturally interested in the new feature of the city: she lives in Sumner taking active part in the community. Tui is involved with the school of her two children and she also contributes to the local cabaret as a singer, dancer and choreographer. Her mum moved to New Zealand on thew 1960’s and she feels as if she was “always on holiday.” Cheerful after the walk the ladies have a last look at the long walkway then join the rest of the family in the carpark.
