A roundabout in the middle of St Martins joins five roads forming a small centrum for the local community. You can get food, fuel or a new hairstyle, there is a church, a riverside and a park nearby too. Henry stops the day after christmas to check the pressure in his car’s tyres. “I spent Christmas alone, all my family is in Australia. I have an iPad to talk to them but I just regarded Christmas an ordinary day. I’m not that lonely though, I have friends and hobbies, I play music for example. Not in a band any more, but I play the saxophone, the blues harp and even the drums. Used to play blues mostly.” While I hold up Henry other people arrive to use the Tyre Pressure Tool, and with the friendly open attitude of the local people they share the space and even join in the conversation.
