Among the busy streets by the Avon River in the north-eastern corner of the inner city there is an unexpected atmosphere of a rural town. The abandoned curves of Oxford Terrace bloom in an ocean of wild flowers immediately off the noisy traffic of Barbadoes Street, and among the modern and towering buildings there is a little colorful cottage to find. The two people in front of it admiring a new, purple and blue snail shaped mailbox could have stepped out of a tale. Ruth and Stephen are very pleased with the result. “Our old mailbox wasn’t any good any more so we needed a new one. I asked Stephen if he could make me one shaped like a snail, and he said of course!” The couple looks after the hundred-year-old cottage with loving care while Ruth pursues her writing career. She has an online blog that’s very popular among its readers.
