Charity Barn is a charming outdoors community recycling place offering all sorts of donated items for sale. The area features many shipping containers with clothing, household items, furniture, vast amount of books, toys, paints and building material. I was taken with the signs splattered all around the Barn, quotes, warnings, information are all presented in signs designed with care and created in a home-made fashion. This sign on the wall caught my eye. It is placed on a white wall that someone saw as an empty canvas waiting for a message. The message that it carries is a positive, spiritual, compassionate message: “Be happy. Pray, hope and don’t worry” presented without colors, ornaments, design or even punctuation. Only plain, almost childish black font on a white background as if some words were added as an afterthought. However, above the text the wind dances with little colorful flags representing all nations in the world happily sharing the cheerful whiffs of air. Underneath refused and reclaimed rubbish is exposed to the elements, helplessly waiting for someone to take pity on it and give it a new life. Heaven above, hell under and a message in between.
